PHP folks, meet ART.
I’m pleased to announce that I’m am working on a new addition to the php|architect family of web properties. ART, a new, freely available article repository will be launched that aims to provide useful, unique and palatable information on PHP as well as related technologies such as databases, javascript, xml, daemons, internals, scaling and interoperability. We are also going to have business op-eds and product reviews in ART.
I will be serving as editor of this project and am informally inviting all authors, or hopeful authors to send me proposals for articles at marcus-AT-phparch-DOT-com and please put ‘ART‘ in the subject line. You can see our public beta for ART complete with a growing collection of articles at http://hades.phparch.com/artemis/main/
Just to quickly answer your most likely questions: yes we are paying for articles, no the deadlines and word counts aren’t outrageous, and yes this is a pathway to becoming a published author in php|architect magazine. There will be much more official information about this project next week, but I wanted to inform those in the community who are looking for fresh new articles on PHP and it’s complimentary technologies as well as those who are looking for a place to start their technical writing career that we are here for you

Time Heals
I’m happy that I’ve finally gotten back together with my long time friend Scott. We’ve been friends since meeting at HealthStream and a stressful time in our lives caused a two year period of distance. I’m really happy that we are back to the old ways. He’s a good guy, and I’ve missed him. Too bad we’ll have to live each other’s weddings through pictures

Pro::PHP Webcast with Brion Vibber of Wikimedia
Tomorrow I will be having a convo with Brion Vibber, Chief Technical Officer for Wikimedia. Another example of PHP in the enterprise. Here we have the 12th most visited site on the net, which always loads fast and delivers when requested using PHP. Why not sign up and listen live and ask questions that you probably can’t get answered by your neighborhood geek about how PHP truly meets up the the scaling challenges.
